Every child matters
The Hull & East Riding Karate Academy is a regional focus for excellence in the Sport of Karate and we pride ourselves on our excellent standards of both teaching and training. We not only subscribe to, but we fully support, promote and most importantly deliver all of the outcomes outlined in Every Child Matters so that children and young people and adults can learn Karate in a safe and friendly environment.
Being healthy
Karate training can reduce the risk factors that contribute to poor health and to help reduce child obesity levels. Karate training can burn up to 800 calories per hour and that is why some people choose Karate to stay healthy and active.
Staying safe
We provide a safe and friendly learning environment for children and young people free from intimidation, harassment and bullying, not only to learn Karate but also self-defence and personal protection and we do not just teach them the physical techniques of self-defence, we also teach them the attitude of self-defence and awareness, so that when they are out in the community they feel much more confident, self-assured and safe.
Enjoying and achieving
You do not need to drag a young person to a Karate class; it is not like taking them to the dentist, because Karate training rewards a young person's determination to succeed in a way that encourages them to work even harder towards attaining a life goal. Motivating them to learn are the different coloured belts they can achieve through self-discipline and focus and it is this same self-discipline and focus that will lead them to great success when competing in competitions, and will also lead them to achieve great and wonderful things in life.
Making a positive contribution
Students of the Hull & East Riding Karate Academy will be making a positive contribution to their school and in the local community of Hull & East Riding. By following strict codes of conduct within school and by passing their Karate Grading Examinations they will be setting the standards for other pupils to follow. Indeed they will become Karate Champions, Role Models, and winners in life.
Achieving economic well being
We are determined that Students who train at the Hull & East Riding Karate Academy are ready to play a full part in their community and in Society. They will be highly employable, with high levels of achievement in both Karate and Education and perhaps most importantly high levels of confidence ready to fully engage in the world of work, and our Grading Syllabus Book may be kept as a personal record of achievement to show present, future or potential employers.
Junior members code of conduct whilst at school
We are fully committed to raising the standard of achievement in Education for all of our Junior Members. As a consequence of this, all Junior Members (under 16 years) are required to abide by the following Code of Conduct whilst at school.
Whenever possible always pre-warn your teachers and your parents of your intention, prior to using your Karate skills in self-defence as a way of protecting yourself from being bullied.
Any junior member found to be bullying any member of their school or using their karate skills in an unauthorised manner will have their Karate licence revoked.
Any Junior Member found to be disrespectful to school teachers or playing truant from school will have their Karate licence revoked. Any Junior Member who receives an ASBO will have their Karate licence revoked.
In order to attend their Official Karate Grading Examination their licence Book must be officially signed by the School's head teacher to confirm our Code of Conduct is being adhered to.
Failure to abide by our Code of Conduct will result in suspension from taking their Grading and progressing to the next coloured belt.
All under 16 year olds must also have their "School Report" Section of their Grading Syllabus Book completed by their Form Tutor prior to attending any
Gradings. Any Student who receives any "POOR" marks on their School Report will not be allowed to take their Grading and will be suspended from entering
any Karate Competitions for 3 months.
By following this code of conduct and by passing your Karate Grading Examinations you will be setting the example for other pupils to follow.
Indeed you will become a karate champion, role model and a winner in life.
